Land Acknowledgement Statement

We acknowledge with respect, the history, spirituality, and culture of the Anishinaabek: The People of the Three Fires known as Ojibway, Odawa, and Pottawatomi Nation, who have inhabited this land from time immemorial. And further give thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen, and the Chippewas of Nawash, now known as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, as the traditional keepers of this land. We also recognize, the Metis and Inuit whose ancestors shared this land and these waters. May we all, as Treaty People, live with respect on this land, and live-in peace and friendship with all its diverse peoples.

FIN2023-02 - 2023 Donation Applications

• Recommendation:

  Whereas, Council adopted FIN-01-2022  Donation Policy on March 9, 2022 to be implemented for the 2023 budget year; and

  Whereas, the 2023 application period was advertised and open from July 27, 2022 to September 30, 2022; and

  Whereas, Council received additional donation requests at the Council meeting on February 8, 2023 and Committee of the Whole meeting at February 15, 2023;

  Now therefore, be it resolved that Council hereby waives Township Donation Policy FIN-01-2022 to consider providing donations to applications made outside of the application process and timeline; and

  That Council directs staff to prepare all administrative documentation required to award donations to successful applicants; and

  That Council directs staff to prepare a letter to all unsuccessful applicants advising of Council’s decision.

Confirming By-law

• Recommendation:

  That By-law No. 2023-010, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council on February 27, 2023, be read a first, second and third time, finally passed, signed by the Mayor and Clerk, sealed with the Seal of the Corporation and engrossed in the By-law Book.
